Relationship-Centered Education Rooted in Homestead Life
A different kind of learning environment for children who need something more
For families seeking something different from the traditional school environment,
Prairie Rose Schoolhouse offers flexible, relationship-centered learning
designed to help each child grow with confidence, curiosity and connection.
In our small, hands-on learning community, children are truly known, supported, and challenged at a pace that works for them. We blend strong academics with meaningful work, creativity, outdoor learning, and connection to the land.
Families may choose from our full microschool program, homeschool enrichment offerings, or individualized tutoring to support their child’s unique needs.
Welcome
Prairie Rose Schoolhouse exists to provide children with a meaningful, hands-on education rooted in homestead life—where academic learning, practical skills, creativity, and character grow together through real work, curiosity, and connection to the natural world.
Our microschool is intentionally small and relationship-centered. Days are shaped by seasonal rhythms, meaningful projects, outdoor exploration, and opportunities for children to contribute, create, and grow with confidence.
Here, children learn not only through books and lessons, but through critical thinking, experience, responsibility, collaboration, and connection to the world around them.
What Makes Us Different
-
Small by design
Low student-to-guide ratios allow each child to be truly known, supported, and challenged as an individual.
-
Learning through real work
Students engage in meaningful projects, outdoor learning, collaboration, stewardship, and practical problem-solving.
-
Whole-child focus
We care deeply about nurturing curiosity, responsibility, creativity, resilience, and character in academic growth.
-
Community-centered
Families are partners, and relationships matter.
-
Rooted in place
Our land and local environment are active teachers.
A Typical Day
Each day follows a gentle rhythm that balances structure and freedom.
Mornings focus on core academic skills—reading, writing, math, and critical thinking—taught in small groups and adjusted to meet students where they are.
Afternoons open into project work, outdoor learning, gardening, nature study, art, cooking, collaboration, and meaningful tasks connected to the land and our community. Children learn by doing, reflecting, and revising—just like real life.
